Ithilwen relaxes and, with a yawn, falls back into contented slumber upon Dahkore's back.

Liar scouts the area ahead of them, keeping an eye out for any possible dangers. He is also curious to see where that magical presence is coming from. If it is like Ithilwen in nature, then perhaps it is someone who can help them with the girl.

Rubicon slips through the tangled underbrush quickly and silently, keeping up with his companions with ease.

Ololamin tries to duplicate this feat, but as he trudges forward a sudden rush of air startles him, as does an eerie cry that splits the night. The minotaur, in his clumsiness, has kicked up a nest of large birds, each with a wingspan of three or four feet. They fly noisily into the air, screeching out a warning call to all of the other animals that danger is near. As they beat through the canopy above, the sounds of falling debris are added to their cries.

Calls of alarm can be heard in draconic from some of the nearby copses, accompanied by a bone-chilling growl and roar. On the wall, the marching kobold guards have stopped in place and are peering carefully out into the darkness.

You have only moments to rectify the situation before its too late...

Hearing the startled cries and the alarming growls, Liar panics but quickly calms his mind. Reaching into his furthest depths he sends out the most powerful wave of emotion he can muster. A feeling of calm, relief (of finding nothing unusual), and satisfaction (of doing their job well).

The cries of alarm continue, and grow closer. The birds are still making a racket as the fly away.

OOC: Where's a druid when you need one? Or a wizard cantrip?

The paladin racks his brain for something useful to do. He decides that the best way to alleviate suspicion is to sound like and animal that might be out at night and started the birds. Knowing that he wouldn't be able to replicate anything super useful, he tries his best with an owl.


Bluff check to sound like a really convincing hunting owl!

Thinking quickly, Kai whirls to Rubicon and whispers harshly.

"You, you can create minor illusions, can you not? Can you copy the sound and sight of those birds taking off and project it in several different directions as fast as you can? It could confuse them, if they saw them startle up in a random pattern, or it could lead the scouts away from us, if you project each one farther and farther away."

OOC: Woops...too many characters to remember. Forgot rubicon is a wizard!

OOC: Oh, hey. cantrips. XD

Rubicon thinks a moment, then waves his hand.

Standard Action: Prestidigitation.

Effect: Rubicon creates the illusion of several birds flying off in random directions from their location, screeching as the real ones did. The illusion only having a range of two squares (ten feet).

OOC again: Not sure if I have to do a check for this, and also, am I able to do two standard actions outside of battle one after another, regardless if they're both at-will powers? I might also do Ghost sound if I can to increase the illusion.

DM: You don't have to roll an Arcana check to use a power, but you could make one to try to increase the cantrip's range in this situation. Also, you may take two standard actions since we're not in combat time at the moment.

Okay, first I'm also going to activate Ghost Sound to emulate the sounds of the birds screeching and flying off, making it sound quieter the further it gets from us and the enemies. This has a range of 10 squares.

Arcana check to increase the range on the first cantrip I used as suggested.
