Time passes, and the sun dips down below the western horizon. Fortuitously, dark clouds roll in from the south, obscuring the light of the stars and moon and cloaking the sparsely-wooded valley in an inky darkness, punctuated rarely with a far-off flash of silvery lightning.
In the distance, small pinpoints of light mark the dozen or so torches that are lit along the wall of Fort Boulder.
All remains quiet, but for the low, distant rumble of thunder.

| Kai pauses in cleaning her falchion, her eyes searching Dahkore's for a moment before traveling doubtfully to the sleeping elf.
"I can try, Master Gryphon, although I don't know how much good it will do once she wakes."
Rising gracefully to her feet and sheathing her weapon in one fluid motion, the warrior turns to gaze on Ithilwen once more. Pulling her canteen around by its strap, she thumbs the stopper and takes a quick sip before letting it fall back to hang behind her hip. She gives the elf a long look, her mouth set in a grim line, before slowly pulling her cloak from about her slim shoulders. The heavy black material pools between her hands, and, taking a deep breath, Kai strides purposefully toward Ithilwen, moving carefully so as not to disturb her. Kneeling quickly, she pulls the thick material over Ithilwen, covering as much of her bare skin as possible, and gently tucks the excess around her slim form. Rising abruptly, she takes several steps backward and glances back toward the gryphon.

| Seeming to regain her composure, the warrior realizes what Dahkore is doing. She studies him carefully, taking note of what things catch his gaze, and what shadows give him pause. Gazing out across the countryside, she then makes a survey of her own, watching for enemies and looking for the safest path toward the fortress ahead.

First of all, you've all been sent your check results.
Secondly, I wanted to let you guys know how this is going to work. There are 8 sizable stands of trees (small forests in and of themselves) between you and the fort, with quite a bit of distance to cover between them. So, you can choose your own way across the clearing, but I'd highly recommend going from copse to copse.
